About the Speaker
Doug Shaddix, an attorney practicing Asset Protection law, grew up in the Atlanta area and graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Political Science. He worked for a congressman while attending law school until the election of President Ronald Reagan. Putting his law degree on hold, he moved to Washington, D.C. for eight years where he worked in International Trade at the Department of Commerce and as Director of Coalition Development for the Republican National Committee and other political and public policy positions. After the Reagan years, he returned to Atlanta and to law school where he graduated Cum Laude.
He spent several years with the Atlanta-based law firm of King & Spalding in Atlanta, where he represented Fortune 500 companies and others such as the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games in a variety of matters in products liability and tort litigation, and US Department of Justice reviews.
He left to practice law on his own in the area of asset protection, corporate formation and estate planning. His firm, Asset Shields, LLC, specializes in setting up corporations, Limited Liability Companies, Family Limited Partnerships, as well as a variety of trusts such as Revocable Living Trusts, Land Trusts, Charitable Remainder Trusts, Personal Property Trusts, Special Needs Trusts, Asset Management Trusts, ILITs (Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts), and other estate planning needs for his clients.
He is an active member of the community, having served as Chairman of the Cobb Board of Elections, and Cobb County Board of Ethics. He is a graduate of Leadership Cobb and has held committee positions with the State Bar, with his alma mater, his political party and with his church.
Doug is happily married and is the proud father of 3 daughters.
